Have you heard of the Love and Logic program? It's a parenting system which helps make kids more self-reliant and responsible---and helps parents to not enable bad habits. Many of our elementary schools are use the system as a basis for their discipline. For the most part, it really seems to work well. If a kid is acting out, you basically have them figure out how to change the situation. "Gee, it's too bad that you took So-and-so's pencil and got sent to the office. What are you going to do about that?"
In Curriculum, we're wondering if we could use this same approach with whiny staff (or spouses). This has given us several opportunities to giggle in the last few days.
Two more days until Spring Break. I hope we make it in one piece.
